Leonardo Garcia

Principal Engineer, Linaro

Leonardo has been a computer engineer for more than 20 years, having worked in a variety of areas. He has worked with microcontrollers, CAN networks, and web development, including developing mobile web applications before the smartphone was introduced. He focused on Linux, virtualization, and enterprise servers (mainly PowerPC, but also mainframes and x86) for 15 years while working at IBM. Now, at Linaro, Leonardo is the Chair of the Data Center Group, where he directs, with Linaro's members and engineers, the work on Arm server platforms for data center and cloud.

Enabling Arm Confidential Compute Architecture (CCA) on Open Source

Over the past year, Linaro has been deeply involved in enabling the Arm Confidential Compute Architecture (CCA) on various open-source projects.

Working with Arm and other companies in the community, we have focused on ensuring that firmware, operating systems, virtual machine monitors, and container management environments can work correctly with Arm CCA.

Our goal has been to provide the basic support to run Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs), which are referred to as Realms within the CCA specification, and to ensure that we have a cohesive attestation verification story.

During this session, we will highlight our progress to date in many projects, including TrustedFirmware-A, EDK2, Linux, QEMU, Kata Containers, and Confidential Containers. Additionally, we will discuss what the next steps are in our roadmap.
